So long, XBOX 360

December 15th, 2007

No, I didn’t have the three red lights problem, just sold it as I wasn’t using it often enough. Didn’t find the time to re-try Oblivion, didn’t find the time to continue playing Splinter Cell DA – I think the last mission completed was the 8th.

Hope I can buy a new one once things settle down for me.

Splinter Cell Double Agent and Oblivion

November 27th, 2007

So last time I was in the US I took the opportunity to visit a game store. Bought SC double agent and Oblivion. Took a long look at Bioshock and Halo 3 but well, too expensive.

So far I’m impressed with SP Double Agent, but more due to the plot than with the game. I have a feeling that I enjoyed Chaos Theory more, though. Nevertheless, the trust level is really fun. A few mission were really nice too, the one on the cruise and the other that you have to prevent the captain from setting the ship on fire was also lots of fun.

I wish that Xbox didn’t take so long to load and save. Why do I have to select the storage device if there’s only one? Clearly not designed by Apple ;-)

Oblivion was a disappointment. Honestly, played for 15 minutes and got tired of it. Maybe I need to give it a second try…

Almost finished Prey!

July 19th, 2007

Gears of Wars is cool, is fine, difficult to die and all of that… But I can’t stop playing Prey! The plot is cool, the design is fantastic and the monster are awesome. If you haven’t given it a try, borrow a copy!

I’m also considering patching my 360 to run the old Xbox games. There are a few Splinter Cell titles that I havent played, not to mention that those games are much cheaper.

Wendy mentioned Oblivion. I checked the screenshots and movies, looks really cool, but it’s not available here yet. Don’t know whom to blame for this though.

Oh, and I can’t wait to join Xbox Live, but the console is on the TV room, and the internet modem is on the guest bedroom, so for now it’s a no-no. I’m gonna buy the wireless adapter someday, but my next scheduled purchase is another wireless controller. Btw, I should have read this before buying my console. In fact, if I had read that, I wouldn’t have bought a 360 at all. Now I’m like counting the seconds, waiting for the red lights…

Got Gears of War

July 7th, 2007

The shop didn’t have many titles, so got their most expensive one (GOW) after some recommendations from the previous post. Cost me about 160 (BRL) which is something like USD$ 75. Reasonable price?

Hey, the game is kinda of fun. Something that really bothers me, for someone who has played Unreal Tournament on PC for years, is aiming with the Xbox control. It doesn’t work. It’s not agile. I miss a mouse or something similar. I’ve played Call of Duty on Nintendo Wii too. It’s better, but really not the same thing. In the end I got so tense that my neck and shoulders were rock solid.

Rhywun mentioned that he likes Wii better. I think Wii is fun, but more like family fun — you have to see my mother playing Wii Sports’ Boxing — but it wasn’t as fun to play alone.

Back to Gears of War, the berserker (or something like that) scene is fantastic!

Oh no, I got a Xbox

July 6th, 2007

Now my 10 minutes of spare time during Sunday mornings will be filled with joy! Didn’t come with any games, though. I’m considering a few titles: Prey, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell Double Agent. Money is short though, so I’d better buy one of these and be happy for a several months. Any recommendation?

Another option is to go “alternative” and be banned from Live in no time. Not really what I’m looking for right now…
